The Facts About Wu-Yi Tea
56
If you do any kind of search, on the Internet, for terms like "diet" or "weight loss", then you almost always find advertisements on your search results that target a tea for dieters. This includes, but is not limited to, Wu-Long (from meltmorefat.com), sites run by Quality for Life, Wu-Yi Source, and many more.
Typically, the sites selling products and services, related to Wu-Yi Tea, will have similar pages that contain a claim that they have exclusive rights to a special tea that can help you lose weight and burn fat very quickly. Often they will even have supposed testimonials scattered around that will claim to have achieved incredible, and often unbelievable, success by consuming the tea. Finally they will end with a list of supposed benefits that their specific brew will provide.
Oolong (Wu-YI) Tea And It's Benefits
Used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries, Green tea (and it's closely related counterpart - Oolong tea), has been used demonstrated in many scientific studies to aid in fat oxidation. You might expect that tea would not have any negative side effects, but it would then be logical that it not be considered a miracle worker either. Using a holistic approach, Chinese medicine (traditional) would not typically use a tea, like Wu-Yi, as a stand alone treatment for problems like obesity.
The most famous variety of Oolong tea is grown and harvested in the Wuyi Mountains in the Fujian Province. This is apparently where 'Wu-Yi Source' derived it's name. Keep in mind, however, that whether the 'Source' really gets it's tea from the Wuyi Mountains or not, is not clear. Be very cautious with places that do not divulge evidence of a claim that is intrinsic to the worth of their product or service.
How Wu-Yi Tea And Wu-Long Tea Are Promoted
On some of the Wu-Yi websites, that make claims about the product, you will find similar 'benefits' sighted:
- Wu-Yi Tea could strengthen your immune system
- Oolong Tea may make your teeth whiter and stronger
- Wu Yi Tea may clear up your skin and acne while making your complexion brighter
- Wu-Yi Tea could accelerate and enhance the wellness of mind and body
- Oolong Tea is completely organic and natural
Take special note that each supposed benefit is preceded by a words like "could", "may", and "might". All except the last.
Also note that despite having many testimonials, the sites selling Wu-Yi tea usually do not give "before and after" pictures of customers. They also tend to have very telling information in the 'fine print'. Phrases like "..when used with proper diet and exercise" and "Results not typical".

Without fail, sites will usually carry the phrase "As Seen On Oprah" as a sign of validity, or more likely to hawk customers looking for the product reviewed by Oprah or even Rachel Ray (who has endorsed another brand). If you look, you will not find any mention, on Oprah's site, of oolong, wulong, or even wu-yi. The truth is that Oprah lists the tea under her 'Snack Secrets' where it is described as a method for the talk show host to ebb her hunger and cravings when taken along side a light and healthy snack. Rachel Ray, however, does not mention the tea at all (for weight loss).
Typically, unhappy customers and suppliers of diet supplements will rarely seek to go through the difficulty of returning a product, despite many of these sites advertising a supposed 'money-back' guarantee.
The (Wu)Long And Skinny
Wu-long tea, and it's close relatives green and black tea, do in fact carry some amazing and highly desirable health benefits, but there is not such thing as a 'magic potion'. Sites claiming as much are simply predators looking for desperate dieters that they can swindle and extort a few dollars from for an already expensive product. The real tea is worth the price, but the fake swindler products are not.
Note: I am in no shape or form affiliated with vendors or producers of the teas mentioned here, and/or cannot help you with returns or cancellations.
